Easy Cheap Decor

I'd seen these on, I believe Pinterest and decided to make some of my own.

All you need is glue (I use a hot glue stick), the cardboard from a toilet paper roll or from paper towels,  and scissors.

Cut the cardboard in whatever size you want and try to make them all the same size. Glue them together.

Mine are maybe 1/2 an inch thick. I glued 5 of them together to form the middle and worked out from there.

It's super simple and cute. You can paint them or just leave them as they are.
Mine are being left as they are.

I haven't gotten super creative with this yet, but I'm sure you could come up with some really cool, cheap designs for in your home (outside of the one I'm showing you)

Christmas Decor

I don't know about you, but I don't like to take down all of my normal all year decor. So instead I decided to use some of what I have out already. So I'm obviously talking about the middle, what I'll call a vase. 

I had some Christmas looking floral decor so I decided to put it in the vase, but seeming as the vase is clear you could see the stems. 

I couldn't seem to think of this oh-so-simple solution to cover the stems. Then my mom came over and said, "Why don't you put some tulle in it?" 

Duh! Why didn't I think of this?! 

So I added the tulle and viola it looks great and it was so simple! It added just an extra touch of Christmas to our living room/dining room ledges and I didn't have to buy anything because I already had it all here. That's my favorite!

Mailbox Update

So what we did with the mailbox was buy some Krylon Dual Paint and Primer (made for metal, wood, & more) in our desired color being Cherry Red (made for indoor or outdoor use)

Hubby spray painted a couple of coats on (dries in 25 min, but you should wait 2 hours before applying each coat) Obviously I wasn't going to use any type of paint while being pregnant so hubby got to help out on this DIY.

After letting it dry at getting all the coats on this is what it looks like

I'm so upset because I couldn't get a good picture. Maybe tomorrow I'll have some better lighting...

And just so you know I plan to do more to our mailbox, but for the time being I can live with it just having a nice paint job. I haven't bought the other supplies yet and I most definitely will not be sharing any hints on what will be coming up next for it. I just hope it looks as good in real life as it does in my head when it's done!

DIY Mailbox

This is our mailbox. It came with the house and honestly I think it's ugly... at least for now. I know that it has potential, but it NEEDS some TLC. 

It's an ugly brown, it's a little rusted, and it's pretty old (at least from the looks of it) Wouldn't surprise me if it was the original mailbox (maybe an over exaggeration) . Our house was built in 1915 so it'd be pretty old. Actually I saw a mailbox on The Wonder Years that looked exactly like ours except for the color and of course there was no rust. 

Anyways we will be doing some DIY on our mailbox and I'll post pictures when my hubby gets the first part finished *BIG smile*
