New Schedule

Have you ever had to change your daily schedule? If no, it's not easy. For example I changed from sleeping 1 or 2am - 10am to 12am-6:30am.

If you know anything about me you know I love my sleep. I like to sleep often and for long hours lol. Having my son changed my ability to sleep as much as I wanted, which is a good thing really, except for when it comes to my weight. Hey can't eat if you're sleeping.

So why the change in schedule? Well, one and most important my son needs to be on a schedule. Two, I'm hoping this new schedule will help me to get more done in a day.

We woke up around 6:30 this morning and Seth just now fell asleep for his nap at 9:30ish. I'm a bit exhausted, but the point of the schedule was to get stuff done so as much as I'd love to nap too I'll take this time to get a few things done in the house.

With it being a new schedule I have no clue how well it will work to what I planned, but I guess I'll adjust what I have to adjust and go from there. But as I said he's napping and I need to do some stuff around the house so I hope you all have a great day, but I must go clean.

Parenting In The Pew

No, I'm not talking about parenting as a Christian apposed to someone who doesn't attend church. I'm talking about the struggles of parenting a child in a church service.
If you've had a kid(s) and attend church you know the struggle of trying to correct your child and not draw attention to yourself. We hear stories of parents pinching arms, pulling ears, and whispering threats and we laugh, but it isn't so funny when we're the one having to do it.

Sunday night Seth was in this noisy, not going to listen mood and in the middle of church service I'm not going to give my stern "Seth" So I try The Look and I point (with The Look). I try giving him things to keep him occupied, quiet, and sitting still.. nothing works the way I'm wanting. Well this is where threatening whispering comes in. If you know kids you know if you go to tell them something they don't want to hear or if they feel you're going to take something from them they back away. So instead of being able to simply lean towards him and whisper I'm having to grab his jacket and pull him to me just to simply whisper that he needs to be quiet, sit down, etc.

***Let me take this moment to say I applaud all the parents out there who go to church service after service just them and their kid(s) having no help throughout the services, especially if the kid is active!***

Having a kid and going to church isn't so bad when you have family and friends to help. I normally have 2-3 family members who help me with Seth and I'm SOO thankful. But Sunday night it was just Seth and I. Don't get me wrong I know that going to church is the right thing. I know that Seth and I need to be there, but services like Sunday night I can't help but feel like being there is pointless. All I wanted was for Seth to sit in my lap and be quiet so that I could pay attention to service, but instead I spent all my time focused on him and ended up completely out of touch with the service. I felt like the services lasted hours longer and I ended up feeling more drained than when I first walked in. I left having received nothing. Thank God that isn't typically how services go for me!

Every kid will at some point do something during service that you wish they wouldn't. And what do you do?

Your options are:
A. Correct them, which may force a little attention on you and make you feel like a bad parent because it's your kid being the pain. Correcting may or may not work the first time.
OR
B. Ignore the issue, allowing your child to be a disruption and actually be a bad parent.

I choose A. But with the way people are today you never know what parenting style is going to offend the people around you. Personally I have no problem with timeout, spanking (spanking not beating!), taking away a toy, threatening to take away a toy, dirty looks, or whispering. But the whole time I'm trying to get him to behave I'm wondering, "Do the people around me think I'm handling this ok?", "Do they think I'm a bad parent?", "Are they wishing I'd take him out of the service?", "How loud does he sound from where they're sitting?", etc. I'm sure all parents have felt this way at least once.

Do I have any solutions? No. But.....

Good news parents!!!! This stage doesn't last forever! Every parent before us has gone through exactly what we're going through and look, they made it! So choose A. Correct that adorable, little pain in the rear. Ignore the things going through your head about what other people think because you know that correcting them is better than ignoring the problem. And remember this stage will be over before you know it... and amazingly one day you will miss it.

So take a moment with me to cry about your baby growing up ....................................................You done?.............................................................

Keep calm and parent from the pew!

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." -Proverbs 22:6

He's 2!!!

My son is 2! Honestly I wondered if he'd make it to 2! I was never one to like kids and thought I'd probably turn out to be one of those women who accidentally shook their child out of frustration and cause it's death, but I didn't (Thank God!) I know that makes me sound awful but honestly there's only so much a person can take and that becomes way more obvious once you have a kid. If you haven't been there yet, just wait you'll see what I mean. Baby crying, your exhausted, can't calm the baby, can't even figure out what's wrong, ... It's a blast.
Anyways he's 2, we made it! And before I know it he'll be in school :/ that just doesn't seem right!  But first let's get past potty training!

Seth's new word

Along with the many words Seth says he's now added Firetruck!

For a "reward" for saying Firetruck we bought him just that, a Firetruck.

It lights up and makes noises. He loves it!

That is all :)

Boys! No wonder women live longer...

Today has been one of THOSE days.
Seth has fell and hurt himself so much today. Most days I can tell him to sit down and he will, but not today.

This last one was bad... Well I mean it sounded and looked bad. He's fine, but he's tired and he's no longer allowed to play tonight. He has to go to bed and stay safe!

This kid is going to give me another two or three grey hairs before I'm even 25. Speaking of which my 24th birthday is just around the corner! Seems so unreal. I still think I'm 19 and here I am 6 years from 30! Lol. I'm not going to freak out about turning 30, I'll be thankful that I got to reach that age, to many people don't get too. Anyways, about Seth.

Some of you may be thinking why isn't he asleep already after all it's 10:30pm. My answer is simple. If he sleeps earlier he wakes up super early. 10:30-11:00 gets me sleeping until only 8:30 or 9:00am. I know to some people that's nothing but to me that's early. I require a lot of sleep to function properly not easy with a kid.

Ok well I have to go to fight my sleep fighting child! Have a great night!

Depression, stir crazy, and fohawk issues

Since Miles has been on 2nd shift the things with my depression have gotten better...

Well besides the depression from this stupid, never ending weather! Seriously get warm already!!!!!!!

I'm going stir crazy. I'm stuck in the house all day besides when I go to work, shop for groceries, or going to my Mom's. But Mom's is only a 1 minute drive so it's not much of an outing.

I cannot wait to go outside and take walks, just sit outside, grilling, bike rides, taking pics of the lovely outdoors, etc. sad to say I would even like to now at this point!

I know poor Seth is not happy being inside all the time, but I'm not going to let him go outside and get sick or worse. It's been way to cold for a toddler to be outside. Lucky for him he has a lot of family that loves him and has gotten him lots if toys. There's no shortage I things for him to play with.

Speaking of Seth he'll be getting his first haircut here soon! His hair is getting far to long. We can't even get his fohawk to stick up right because the length of his hair!

I hope you all have a great night!

Seth Update

So I haven’t talked about Seth in a while. So how about an update on him? Sound good? I thought so.

For those of you who don’t know, Seth was born on September 27, 2012. This makes him 1 year, 2 months, and so many days lol.

He’s been walking since 8 ½ months. He started running not to long after that. Now he’s “faster than a speeding bullet” and hard to catch.

He loves to get into things (What kid doesn’t? lol.) Plants, food, bowls, lids, pots and pans, laundry, the litter box(Eww, eww, eww, eww!), you name it.

He has 8 teeth. He’s had these teeth for a while now and I see no signs of any others popping out soon, but all babies are different so we’ll see.

He loves potatoes; mashed, baked, fried, etc.; Daddy, mommy, Grandma, and Grandpa; Waving to complete strangers as if he’s seen them every day of his life. He loves to be held, hugged, kissed, and cuddled; watching TV, playing with cars, books and in bath time. He loves to be loud and strut his stuff, yes he’s 1 and he struts. It’s adorable! He loves to chase the cats and be around any animals that are near. He also loves to snack ALL DAY LONG!

He hates beans; refried, ham and beans beans, etc. I can’t say I blame him for this I didn’t like beans so much as a kid either. He hates when Daddy is home and isn’t playing with him. The boy LOVES his daddy! He hates that the cats won’t let him pick them up. He HATES leaving Grandma and Grandpa’s house or them leaving our house. He cries and screams and it’s sad because he’s sad, but adorable because he loves them so much. When they come over he points out the door as if to say “Ok, let’s go. I’m coming with you!” Lol.

He is definitely all boy. Tools, cars, machinery, vroom vroom sounds, wrestling with dad, action movies, sports, etc. it’s his thing.

There is rarely a day that he is shy. He flirts with the female cashiers at Walmart, waitresses, random women. It’s adorable, for now. I’m sure I’ll have a hard time when his flirting might actually result in a relationship. YOU CAN’T HAVE HIM HE’S MINE! I’m keeping him forever! Lol. I wish.

Today for the first time we gelled his hair into a fo-hawk (whatever the correct spelling)  It is so adorable, but I’m wondering how long it will stay that way.

Well, I can’t think of anymore to say at this moment, but feel free to ask me a question if I forgot something that you’d like to know. (Comments below)

Hope you’re all having a great day!

One Year Old!

My Seth turns 1 today! Its a miracle we've made it to 1. I'm so excited and I can't wait to see what this up and coming year has for us.

I'd be lying if I said that this year had been easy. There have been times I thought I was going to lose it, times I wanted to pull my hair out or maybe even pull Seth's hair out lol. But I can also tell you for every time I've been upset I've been happy. For every time I've cried out of frustration I've cried thinking about Seth growing up and moving out.

There were many times I thought we wouldn't make it to his first birthday because I'd lose it before we got there. No one can really tell you how much your life changes once you've had a kid, they may try but no one can fully explain it.

I have a walking, running, crawling, cat chasing, tail pulling, car loving,... 1 year old!

One year ago today I was laying in a hospital bed terrified, feeling so sick, having some of the worst pain I've ever felt in my life and wondering can I really do this? And here we are, I did it ad I can do this.

He was and still is the most perfect and beautiful baby I've ever seen. I've never known of a baby that was so well behaved.

I'm so glad I went against all my better judgment and decided to have a baby.

So happy birthday to the most perfect baby ever! Happy birthday, Seth!

We're Moving!

I love our home. In the beginning I believed that we'd never leave our house. I believed we'd eventually fix everything up and get it to look how we wanted. Well, I was wrong. The longer we've lived here and the more I realized how long it was going to take us to do all these upgrades the more unhappy I got. I saw all these people upgrading their homes and it was depressing! God knew I was getting depressed about certain things, but I didn't tell anyone else, not even my husband.

What do you know God provided a home.. I think God had to do a little nudging LOL (Mom, you'll get that)! It has the major upgrades that I wanted! Amazing! It's closer to my mom :D, it has a big back yard for Seth to play in and for us to have family and friends over, it's in the country but still only 10 minutes away from everything, our neighbors won't be living practically on top of us like they do here, we won't hear the traffic,  no sharing the street in front of our house, or hearing the neighbor's annoying dogs, etc.! I'm so excited. And though I love our house I feel so much more at home in our new place. I can't wait until we officially move in. We do have to wait a month.. well, a little over a month, before we can move in. That's a bummer, but at least I can go through things and won't feel rushed to just throw everything in a box.

I'm going through things getting rid of the clutter. Deciding what we need and what we don't. What belongs in our new home and what doesn't really fit there. That's a long, hard processes. Hopefully I'll be able to give up the things that I don't need so our house can look nice and clutter-free.

They had a firepit that has fallen apart and I've been saying that I want a firepit so we'll be able to make a new one where they had theirs.

Plenty of room in the backyard! We can fit the grill, a swing, the firepit, plus so much more if we wanted to.

I cannot wait! Can you tell? Lol. When we get all moved in I'll post some photos to give you an online tour of our new home and our fabulous yard.

I hope you all have a great day!

6 months!

Tomorrow Seth will be 6 months old! I can't believe how fast time has gone by!

For those of you who don't know Seth can crawl ( a beginner crawl ) and he has 2 teeth!

He's such a good boy. I love to watch him. He stands well. Sits well.

He's 17.9 lbs. 27 1/4 in long. Well according to his last Dr. appointment anyways, which wasn't that long ago.

He eats #2 Baby food. Can have those baby puff things. Is being introduced to a sippy cup.

Still no first word(s) and he still cries like a newborn.

I can't wait to see what all he can do in the next 6 months.

Oh he also gives kisses!

Rock & Roll Sleeper

Seth now will roll in his crib to sleep on his side or his stomach! It's so cute to go in his room and see him sleeping like a little man.
It's to dark in his room to take a picture when he's sleeping and I'm afraid to wake him up with the flash of the camera. So for now you'll have to use your imagination and take my word for it.
He's officially 4 months old as of yesterday! My boy is getting big, but hey that's supposed to happen, not that it makes it any less sad.
He's sleeping now, in my arms :)

Hope you're all having a great day!

4 Months

In a few days my baby boy will be 4 months old!

If you've been reading my posts you know all the cool new things he's learned. Like rolling, he can roll in every direction, back to tummy, and tummy to back. He's 'talking', he laughs, plays with his hands and feet, sleeps in his crib and doesn't wake me up in the middle of the night for a bottle, he's been trying to pull himself up into the sitting position, he can sit up with support of pillows or people, he can hold his own bottle for a minute or two, etc. I love how much he's learned!  He's very smart.

We take his picture A LOT, but I decided since he's almost 4 months that I would take some more professional looking photos. So I took some pretty good ones. I want to take some better ones later, but he was just laying on this blanket on the floor and looked so cute that I just had to start my professional looking photo's there. The others I'll make a backdrop and such, maybe have some props too.

He did all his own posing I just snapped the pictures. (Which there wasn't much moving. Lol.)
God did an awesome job forming this little guy! He's so adorable! I'm so blessed.

His Own Bed

For over a week now Seth has been sleeping in his crib! He sleeps so well in there. I think it's because he has so much room. He's started sleeping on his side every once in awhile, it's so cute he looks like such a little man.

He doesn't wake up in the middle of the night wanting a bottle anymore *BIG SMILE*, but he does wake up around 5 times or so during the night wanting his Buddy (pacifier) put back into his mouth. Hopefully soon he'll learn that he can put it back into his mouth by himself so I don't have to wake up and trip over things to do it.

It's so cute! He now wakes up in the morning and starts "talking". He's very loud about it so it's impossible to sleep through so once he starts talking I know that ready or not it's time to get up. Luckily he starts talking around 8a.m. so it's not to bad.

I love that he sleeps in the crib so well, but I hate having to walk around my bed so many times to get to him. I can't talk Miles into switching sides of the bed so that it would be easier on me. Oh well, before I know it he'll be able to take care of all of his 'night needs' and I won't need to get up to help. I'm sure I'll be sad about that after I get over the initial, "Woo-hoo no more waking up in the middle of the night!"

Lovin' my little Sugar! (I call him Sugar because he's so sweet!)

Seth's New Accomplishments

Seth has started a few "new" things. He's growing and learning so quickly. I'm so proud of him.

So you're asking, "These new things are....?"
Well, I'll tell you. Occasionally he will play in his ExerSaucer. He's starting to hold his bottle by himself more. Staying awake more and more. Rolling from his tummy to his back or from his back to his sides like a pro.  (He's rolled from his back to his tummy a couple of times, but doesn't feel like doing that any more.) We now put Rice in his bottle and he'll eat Baby Food.

Baby food we've tried Bananas = Big no he didn't like the taste, Sweet Carrots = Yes, Green Beans = Okay he doesn't really like the taste but he'll eat it, and I believe there was another one but I can't remember what it was. In about 3 days we'll be trying Sweet Peas.

So far no signs of allergies. Thank God! I pray he doesn't have allergies to anything, especially not food.

He's currently on his second/third-ish nap of the day. He went to sleep for his second nap, woke up for a few minutes, and then went right back to sleep. Lol. So that's why I'm not sure what nap to call this.

Okay well, I'm going to go back to my Bones and house cleaning now. Have a great day!

Learning to sit up

Seth can sit up for a minutes if he's propped up. Then he slides and falls to his side or starts to lean forward. He's learning so much :)

Thursday, January 3, 2013

Rolling *check*

Seth has officially rolled from his back to both sides, from his tummy to his side then a few minutes later to his back, and from his back to his belly! So rolling is accomplished. He's been trying to crawl and I'm sure he'll learn it soon. He's such a fast learner. He may not start trying to do things at the same times as other kids, but once he decides he wants to do something he does it.

Peek-a-boo Baby

I found out on Christmas day that Seth likes Peek-A-Boo!
I was playing it with him while he was in his bassinet and he was just laughing, it was so sweet.
I can't wait to see what other things he likes :)

Rollin' Baby

Seth has finally decided to roll to one side! He rolled to his left side today all by himself! Now if he'll continue to do it and work on the other side as well :P

Again Seriously?!

Ok I love my son. And I'm actually happy I had a boy, but there's one downfall....

Almost every time I go to change his diaper he pees!
Now luckily he doesn't pee on me, but he does pee all over himself, which isn't good either.

Sometimes he gives me a fair warning that I need to hurry...
But then there's the other times with no warning and suddenly there's a stream flowing free! And this kid pees heavy and hard! Lol.

I'm sure it's a funny site when I'm trying to find something to cover him up with...

Oh well, I love him, messes and all!

Finally A Theme

So as you've probably read, Seth's nursery has not had a theme. Well, I believe we've finally decided on a theme. I won't show pictures of the nursery until I have it "more finished".( I won't say finished because I don't believe a room is ever finished, you may have it a certain way, unchanging for a little while, but eventually you will change it. Anyways...)  Are you ready to hear what the theme is?!

Monkeys! Well, it's going to have more than just monkeys, but monkeys will be the main animal. It seems to be fitting for Seth. He has a ton of clothing with monkeys on them and monkeys are kind of the in thing it seem. Now I'm not big on doing the in thing. I like to be unique! But it should be easy to find things for his room. And to make it unique to us there's another "main" animal.

See! A monkey! Lol.

Ready to hear this one?!

The other main animal will be elephants. Why elephants? Good question. The first stuffed animal that I let Seth sleep with and "carry around" was/is an elephant. He loves his elephant. So it's only fitting that it should be in his room.

Seth's Stuffed Elephant :)
